Strategies For Creating Loyal Employees

Loyal Employees Are Your Greatest Asset

You have most likely heard the term “loyal employees,” but what exactly does it mean and why are loyal employees so important? Loyal employees are the employees that fully support your organization’s mission and values. They work hard to earn their pay and are always looking for ways to not only improve themselves, but to help improve the organization as a whole. In addition, loyal employees are more satisfied at work, which leads them to become more productive and more engaged. This is a key factor because Gallup reports that organizations with a highly engaged workforce outperform those without by 147 percent!

Sometimes is can be easy to forget just how big of a role your employees play in your organization’s bottom line, but the truth is, your employees determine your success. That is why it is important to nurture them in ways that earn their loyalty. Listed below are five methods to help you create loyal employees, as well as attract and retain top talent.

Methods For Creating Loyal Employees

  1. Incorporate a Wellness Program: When you incorporate and maintain a wellness program, you are showing your employees that you care about them and that their health and wellness is important to you. This demonstrates that you are committed to earning their loyalty. Worksite wellness also creates a positive cycle within your organization. When employees are healthy, they are not only happier but also more productive. Both of these things lead to improved employee engagement and reduced absenteeism, which both positively impact your bottom line. 2. Development Opportunities: According to this Forbes article, employees who think they are progressing in their career are 20% more likely to stay at their companies. For employees to love and remain loyal to their organization, they need to feel mentored, empowered and supported in their professional goals. Consider offering career management and professional development opportunities that allow employees learn new skills and expand on their existing skills.
  3. Recognition: Our core emotional need is to feel valued. Without a strong sense of appreciation, job loyalty and satisfaction become nearly impossible. Try recognizing employees soon after a job well done. You will realize this will instantly improve their mood, increase engagement, and motivate them to continue doing well. Recognition can come in forms of one-on-one acknowledgements, shout-outs on the company’s internal communication platform, or even from managers trained to give instant recognition.
  4. Appropriate Salary: To have truly loyal employees, you must pay them fair salaries that are appropriate for the work being done. With that being said, an employee’s salary is not the most important factor when it comes to keeping or leaving a job. According to this AICPA Survey, 80 percent of employees would choose a job with benefits over an identical job that offered 30 percent more salary but no benefits.

Remember, your employees spend each and every day working to help your business grow. The best way to return the favor is by following these methods and ensuring they have the best possible employee experience. Click here to learn more!
