18th Annual National Women’s Health & Fitness Day
Tomorrow, September 25, is the 18th Annual National Women’s Health and Fitness Day! This event is the nation’s largest annual health promotion event for women of all ages. Along with the participation of local organizations throughout the United States, this day focuses national attention on the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness for women. National Women’s Health and Fitness Day is a public/private good health partnership organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC)sm, a national clearinghouse for consumer health information professionals, and their overall goal is to encourage women of all ages to take control their health.
How To Celebrate and Participate
Do a quick Google search or check your local Facebook events because there will be more than 500 groups across the country hosting women’s health and fitness events on Wednesday September 25! Events will be held at community locations such as health clubs, parks and recreation districts, local health and service organizations, schools, senior centers, hospitals, retirement communities, and houses of worship.
If you are looking to participate on a more personal level, make September 25 the day you decide to take control of your own health. Schedule out your doctor’s appointments and checkups, talk to your doctor and do research to learn more about committing to a healthy lifestyle, start an exercise routine, start making healthy substitutions and focusing on your nutrition, etc.!
Company Involvement
National Women’s Health and Fitness Day provides an excellent opportunity for your organization to reiterate all the wellness programs and services you offer. Communicate with your employees and explain how they can utilize company wellness offerings to take control of their health. This little refresh may be just what your employees need to kickstart their participation! Your organization can also participate by hosting a wellness lunch and learn, organize a company walk, provide informational handouts, or arrange for an onsite workout class.
